The Show du Nord will occur on Friday 10th at 20h00 in l'Amphithéâtre Hydro-Québec of Pavillon Desjardins-Pollack at Université Laval. Admission free. Beer and drinks on place. 

In addition to get on well with the different teams, you could hear music from two of the best emergent punk-rock bands of Quebec City, Hopeful Sixteen and Arcania Fades.

HOPEFUL SIXTEEN

Hopeful Sixteen… a group single in its kind! A great mixture between the Punk Rock, the Hardcore and the Pop with a beautiful feminine, clear and powerful voice which will certainly not leave you indifferent. The way to describe Hopeful Sixteen is unquestionably perseverance, creativity and especially perfectionism. Since the beginning of his existence, that is to say in 2006, the group knew several changes of musicians, for a reason or for another but not in vain, it needed the cream of the cream like one says. Now, five young musicians with full of projects, of ambition, stable but especially, over the same wavelength, work without slackening in order to always improve but especially give you some original music which you will have desire for listening.

Always enthusiastic with the idea to go up on scene, Hopeful Sixteen will be able to divert you not only as you deserve it but also as it should be!

ARCANIA FADES

Arcania Fades est un groupe émergeant des tréfonds de la scène underground québécoise combinant la sincérité du country-folk américain à l’énergie explosive du punk.

Avec la sortie de son plus récent E.P. en novembre 2008, Where We Left Off, le groupe montre qu’il a gagné en maturité. En imposant un style plus abouti qui explore des sonorités folk, Arcania Fades prouve qu’il est parvenu à un autre niveau de son évolution musicale. Dans l’écriture poignante et directe du groupe se profile la fougue de la jeunesse avec des propos exprimés sans prétention, sans compromis, de façon franche et parfois crue. Très introspectifs, les textes expriment souvent la nostalgie, la rancœur, la douleur, la rage mais également cette volonté de donner un sens à toutes ces névralgies pour pouvoir vivre voire survivre.

Arcania Fades is a folk rock project hailing straight from Quebec City. Melding the essence of american country music with punk rawness, this melodic achievement exhibits the trail of a spirited and raging youth with words expressed without conceit, without compromise. While the songs deal with nostalgia, anger and resentment, the band's introspective writing reveals a will to give sense to all these aches and wounds in order to live, not to say survive. Bringing back honest music to the forefront, Arcania Fades' new E.P. ''Where We Left Off'' is an illustrative collection of melancholy-fueled folk rock songs pouring with emotion and honesty.
